We’ve put together a slideshow that captures the heart of Phillipe Friends Academic—from our students in action and the progress of school construction, to the friends and supporters who have visited to learn about our mission. These moments tell the story of a community coming together to create change, and we’re excited to share them with you.
A Note on Development Tourism
At Phillipe Friends Academic, we deeply value the support and interest of those who care about expanding access to education in rural Tanzania. We warmly welcome visitors who wish to learn more about our school, our community, and the work we're doing to create lasting change. Seeing the impact firsthand can be a powerful way to encourage continued support and foster meaningful connections.
However, we are also mindful of the potential pitfalls of development tourism. Our priority is always the well-being, dignity, and uninterrupted learning of our students. While we appreciate visitors, we are committed to avoiding situations where the school or its students are treated as attractions or photo opportunities.
We ask that all visits be approached with respect, humility, and a genuine interest in learning and supporting our mission. Together, we can ensure that engagement with our school is ethical, empowering, and truly beneficial for the children and families we serve.
